Ushakov Medal presented to relatives of the Arctic Convoys Veteran Thomas Whitelaw Mahon
On 2 October 2018, the Russian Consul General in Edinburgh Mr Andrey A.Pritsepov presented Ushakov Medal to relatives of an Arctic Convoys Veteran Thomas Whitelaw Mahon. His daughter and a son-in-law took part in the meeting. They shared their memories about Thomas Mahon and veteran’s stories about his service in the Merchant Navy as a part of the Arctic Convoys. He always remembered courage and heroic deeds of Russian and Scottish people fighting shoulder-to-shoulder.
They also received a set of the commemorative gifts commissioned to mark the 75th anniversary of the first Convoy codenamed Dervish.
