World Poetry Day – March 21, 2022.
WE'RE HERE
We're Here, you're there, And the catch is in between. The dories out, the lines are set, The Banks an idyllic scene.
The schooners bob on a rolling sea, Sails drying in the sun. Callous fingers baiting hooks, An occasional ship's bell rung,
Dories loaded down with fish, Bring home the treasured cod. Fishermen seek a peaceful rest, Sailing close to the hand of God.
Returning home, the fleet sails in, To Lunenburg and Gloucester too. Following seas and gentle winds, A safe return for all the crew.
