Last December, the Baltic Ace collided with the Corvus J off the coast of the Netherlands. In the cold winter waters, 11 of the 24-man Baltic Ace crew lost their lives. Five of the bodies were never recovered. The Mission in Rotterdam was on hand to support the survivors on that fateful night, and the crew were regular visitors to Mission centres in South Shields and in Scotland on their travels. Now, one year on, a plaque listing the names of those who lost their lives has been unveiled in the chapel at the Mill Dam Mission by its chaplain, the Reverend Chris Fuller. The Mission's centre manager in South Shields, Diane Erskine, said: "The Baltic Ace was one of the first vessels I visited about seven years ago and we got to know the crew well. Last year we had Christmas presents waiting for the crew, but we never saw them again." Read more about the Mission's original response here: LINK
