Thirty four years ago today we lost eight very brave, fearless & selfless lifeboatmen from our RNLI family. Their courage, dedication, determination, valour and heroism serves as a beacon to us all. Gone but never forgotten...greater love hath no man. The people of Mousehole will turn off their Christmas lights at 8pm this evening in remembrance of the 16 people who died 34 years ago. LINK 1LINK"34 years ago tonight myself and the rest of the crew of Courtmacsherry Harbour Lifeboat were anchored in the lee of Barry's Point after searching all afternoon for Cornelius de Graaf who perished when his vessel pitchpoled and sank in Storm force 12 earlier in the afternoon. Sadly our long night at sea was made more sad by the news we were hearing over our squeaky radio of wreckage being spotted in Lamorna Cove in Cornwall. ....the wreckage of the lifeboat Solomon Browne. A night I will never forget. May the Lord bless all their souls. Micheal D Hurley
