Arctic hero's war-time bravery recognised by Russia It was 'the worst journey in the world' where death in the icy depths was just a torpedo strike away. Around 3,000 men died in the freezing waters of the Arctic during Operation Dervish in the Second World War, striving to keep supplies flowing through German blockades to Britain's ally, the Soviet Union. And 89-year-old Ken Robinson was one of those brave men who kept the supply lines open, which played a vital role in helping Russia fend off German forces. Mr Robinson, from Hanover Gardens in Nailsworth has received a long-awaited service medal at a ceremony at the Russian Embassy in London. LINK
