Hi there, I have been researching the Barry for some years on and off. I believe my grandfather may have been aboard when it was torpedoed in 1941 off the coast of Sunderland. I have never found a crew list so am still no closer to knowing if he was in fact one of the survivors of the Snaefell as it was renamed. I wondered if you knew of any crew lists from its ww2 crew? The thing is, my uncle was named Barry after a ship my grandfather said they called Barry, and sailed in ww2, he said he was a minesweeper. My grandfather said he was blown clear out of the ship and thought they had hit a mine. He thought it was his fault for all his life, although we never found a HMS Barry when we looked online until I came across Sneafell, previously Barry. He died in the 60's as he was old by then. Anyway, as you may understand it is of great interest of me if this is infact the ship my grandfather was in and who he named his first son after, who has also passed away in recent years. Any help seeing crew lists or survivor lists would be wonderful if they exist. thanks again, FIRST REPLY.Thank you for contacting me here. This year I hope to organise a 110 year of her build and entering service etc. I will reply better ASAP. I did a few years ago succeed in securing artifacts from the Snaefell and they are safe in Barry. I will reply again pos in the morning. Regards, Keith. LINK
