The last ship to take troops away from Suvla Bay was HMS Barryfield – formerly Paddle Steamer Barry that had been a boat more associated with pleasure than war prior to 1914. HMS Barryfield worked throughout the Gallipoli campaign ferrying men and provisions to the beaches, sustaining some damage to one of its paddles when hit by a mine. In World War 2, renamed HMS Snaefell, it was one of the “little ships” that rescued men from the Dunkirk beaches. LINK
