On 7th May 2017, a solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Arctic Convoys Memorial in the Cove, Loch Ewe, on the occasion of the 72nd Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. It was Loch Ewe where many vessels that would travel to and from the Soviet Union were stationed during the war.
For the first time, Russian and Scottish Veterans of the Arctic Convoys jointly participated the annual wreath laying ceremony in Loch Ewe.
The wreaths were laid by the Consul General of Russian Federation in Edinburgh Mr Andrey Pritsepov, the Consul General of United Kingdom in Saint-Petersburg Mr Keith Allan, the Lord-Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty Ms Janet Bowen, representatives of the Arctic Convoys organizations from Saint Peters burgh. The ceremony was also attended by the management of the Arctic Convoys Museum in Aultbea, Russian and Scottish naval cadets and representatives of the local community and compatriots.
