Penarth local nautical news. HERO-OFFICER OF “HMS PENARTH” IS COMMEMORATEDA rare medal and papers relating to the courageous actions of a Royal Navy officer – who saved many lines on board the minesweeper HMS Penarth in the aftermath of the First World War – have this week been loaned to the museum at Britannia Royal Naval College. HMS Penarth was a “Hunt Class” minesweeper which sank in the North Sea on February 4th 1919 whilst engaged on clearing WW1 mines off Yorkshire Coast. LINK
