The Seafarers’ Remembrance Service took place on May 19Pre event release: LINKThe Merchant Navy Association (Wales) will hold this year’s Seafarers’ Remembrance Service on May 19 at the Merchant Seamen’s Memorial in Cardiff Bay. The Merchant Navy Association (Wales) – or MNA Wales –was formed in Spring 1995 by the late Bill Henke MBE and friends, to bring together in a spirit of friendship all seafarers who have served, or are still serving, in the Merchant Navy and Deep Sea Fishing Fleets. Each year since, MNA (Wales) has organised two Remembrance services: one to mark the anniversary of the dedication of the memorial on or near May 24; the other to mark Armistice Day in November. The services are multi-faith to reflect the sacrifices made by seafarers from all nations, and have readings from the Tanakh (sometimes referred to as the Hebrew Bible), The Bible, and The Koran.
