On 18th April 2018, the Russian Consul General in Edinburgh Mr Andrey A.Pritsepov presented Ushakov Medal to a WWII Veteran John M.Beaton, who took part in the Arctic Convoys. According to Decree of the President of the Russian Federation the Medal is awarded «for personal courage and valor shows during World War II while participating in the Arctic Convoys».
John M.Beaton shared his memories about the passages through the restless waters of the Arctic to Archangel under repeated attacks by the enemy during the Arctic Convoys.
