Merchant Navy Association
Looking forward to welcoming everyone to this years Merchant Navy Day Service and Reunion on Sunday 9th September from 1130 onwards with the Service starting at 1300. We always receive such wonderful support with nearly 1,000 people attending last year and 68 Standard Bearers. We will focus on the recognition and awareness of the end of the First World War. The MNA are also involved in the nations tribute being organised by Bruno Peek, the Queens Pageantmaster that starts at 0600 on Sunday 11 November. The MNA are co-ordinating the reading of the names on all the plaques on the First World Memorial in Trinity Square Gardens at Tower Hill in London. We will time the readings to be completed by 1855 when we will prepare for the lighting of the brazier also in Trinity Square Gardens. Suggest those interested go online and have a look at Battles Over details. It is a 62 document that details how local communities all over the world are getting involved but particularly in UK. This is the people’s tribute and your local community is likely to have a programme of events. Another busy year for realising the opportunities for recognising and respecting what has been achieved to keep us free in an imperfect world. Keep up to date on our LINK website
