A commemorative ceremony has this morning been held at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission’s Bayeux War Cemetery to mark the 74th Anniversary of Operation Overlord - D-Day.
During the service Normandy Veteran, Kennedy Hay MBE recited the Normandy Prayer to the more than 500 people in attendance – including a number of veterans who paid their respects to their fallen comrades.
The cemetery contains over 4,000 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War – more than 500 of which were killed on the 6 June 1944.
