A fun Armed Forces Day planned for Barry this Saturday.
A marching parade will mark the start of this year’s Armed Forces Day, to support the Armed Forces, and their families past and present. Held earlier* than elsewhere on Saturday, June 9 people from all over the county are invited to the fun event supported by the Vale Council, which includes the opportunity to meet serving personnel and veterans. The parade will start at 11am, and members of RAF St Athan Band and City of Newport Pipes and Drums, Royal British Legion Band Llanelli with MoD St Athan, HMS Cambria, 203 Field Hospital Volunteers, 614 Squadron, Cadet Associations, Veterans, Royal British Legion Riders branch, Merchant Navy and the Royal Air Forces Association will all march on the island. Military displays and vehicles including Royal Marines unarmed combat teams, TS Cadet gun running, Military Preparation Training College, a climbing wall, and the Royal Navy Sea King helicopter will feature. Barry’s Male Voice Choir and Tenovus Ladies’ Choir will also perform on the day. LINK
