Royal Fleet Auxiliary
On the 3rd August, 1905, the Admiralty ordered that 'HMS' would be in future confined to commissioned ships wearing the White Ensign.
"My Lords are pleased...to direct that auxiliaries which belong to the Admiralty shall in future be styled 'Royal Fleet Auxiliaries'..."
And so the RFA was born which would be officially confirmed in council on the 22nd March 1911.
