LATEST NEWS - Swansea Cork ferries are to return under the new banner of the fastnet Line in March, 2010
After successfull berthing trails at Swansea's King Dock the MV Julia sailed onwards to Cork and is currently docked at Horgan's Quay, Cork Harbour, were she will be prepared for service. The Swansea Cork ferry returns to service St. David's Day 1st March, 2010.
Swansea Cork Ferries will once again sail from the City of Swansea - Abertawe (South Wales) into the heart of Cork City (County Cork, Ireland) the Swansea Terminal being just a few mintures off the M4 Motorway (Port Talbot) with London just a mere journey time of 3hours away, making the Swansea Cork ferry service a very attractive Irish Sea option.
The old service ceased in 2006 previously it had operated from March in time for the St. Patrick’s day Holidays (St. Patrick - Patron Saint of Ireland - St. Patrick's Day 17th March) and continued until early January, crossing overnight from Swansea, the terminal is located near the newly developing SA1 quarter offering you close at hand Hotel & Restaurant facilities into Cork City which is the closest port to the beautiful Town & Harbour of Kinsale, were you can dine in fine restaurants that you will not forget.
Crossing’s from Cork to Swansea varied, the boat sails daytime and nighttime depending the date of departure.
If you are were visiting the sunny south east coastline of Ireland (West Cork) you could save yourselves some 120miles of driving by cruising across with the Swansea Cork Ferry service. Giving you more time to enjoy the delights of the Cities of Cork and Swansea.
The new ship MV Julia was purchased by the West Cork Co-operative who will operate her under the banner Fastnet Line for 7.8million Euros from Finland, she sailed from Finland on the 16th September, 2009 for her new life in warmer waters of the Irish Sea on the Swansea Cork ferry route, first arriving at Swansea for berthing trials. After successful berthing trials she set sail for Cork on the 24th September and is currently docked at Horgan's Quay, Cork Harbour were preparations are ongoing for her readiness for service on the Swansea Cork ferry route.
The Swansea Cork ferry - Fastnet Line sailings are scheduled to return on the 1st March, 2010 - St. David's Day (St. David - Dewi Sant - Patron Saint of Wales - St. David's Day 1st March)
