This year is the 105th anniversary of the sinking of the Empress of Ireland liner, with the loss of more than 1000 lives. The ship had just left Quebec, bound for Liverpool, when it collided in thick fog and sank in just 15 minutes. Find out more about the tragedy and the crew affected, many of whom were from Liverpool, in our online feature and in the Life at Sea gallery: LINK
