Today we take a moment to remember those lost in the 1947 Mumbles lifeboat disaster, in which all eight lifeboat crew members perished alongside the 39 people onboard the stricken steamship Samtampa they had attempted to rescue after she ran aground.
The tragedy remains one of the worst in RNLI history and had a big impact on the local community. 72 years on and The Mumbles Lifeboat RNLI crew continue to take to the sea, whatever the weather, when people need help their help.
