Today, a permanent memorial to the Merchant Navy heroes of the Battle of the Atlantic has been unveiled by Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Christine Banks.
A plaque, bearing the names of some of the 3,500 vessels that were lost from the merchant fleet, was created by Neville Greenalgh and was presented to Merchant Navy Association Liverpool Merseyside Branch.
Now it will be on permanent display at Liverpool Town Hall.
