Auckland Cenotaph: Missing Red Ensign.
The top photograph shows the flags now flying from the Auckland Cenotaph. The lower two photographs show the flags that used to fly from the Auckland Cenotaph before the RSA had the Merchant Navy Flag removed. A representative of the Mayor of Auckland claimed he had no records of the MN flag ever flying from the Auckland Cenotaph. The flags flying in the upper photograph are repeated on both sides of the Cenotaph and again from the museum building, ie three times but sadly no room for the MN flag that has flown on ANZAC Day since the Cenotaph was built. Shame on the RSA to dishonour the Merchant Navy.
