03 October 1940 was a busy day for Luftwaffe activity along the Irish coast. Early morning The British Submarine HMS TALISMAN was attacked 15’ west of Lizard point with one crew member wounded in the attack.
Later that morning off the Kerry coast an FW200 attacked the British trawlers FRAMLINGHAM and IWATE, both survived the attacks but sustained crew casualties.
IWATE would be attacked two more times during the war, surviving all attacks and also participated the in rescue of crew from another stricken trawler.
