A Prayer for the
Sunday Roast for six

Gracious Spirit, Holy Ghost, Guardian of
the Sunday Roast.
Firmly in the oven slam, for six, roasted
leg of Lamb.
With roast potatoes, crisp and golden,
Maris Pipers, well beholden.
Guide us to the garden, please, to gather
in selected peas.
And beans, a bumper crop this year, oh,
bounteous harvest Overseer!
And may the Cook be ever praised who
thought of carrots, lightly glazed.
And may we properly lay the table,
appreciation
to enable;
With linen crisp and silver shining, breathe
Thy blessing on our dining.
Grant us this and every week some
bottled gold from Jacob’s Creek.
And while our lunch is embryonic, pour
me please a gin and tonic.
Full and grateful, may I die, enjoying now
my apple pie.
