BARRY Waterfront Festival WALES 2010
The Barry Waterfront Festival takes place this year 4 - 5 September
Sat 10am - 10pm; Sun 11am - 7pm
Those that wish to know more can follow this link:

WHAT I WOULD DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO IS:
On the Sunday there will be a Thanksgiving Service to our armed forces and Merchant Navy at 10am. All are welcome
I personally cannot attend as I hope to be at Tower Hill for:
The annual Merchant Navy Day Commemorative Service and Reunion at Trinity Square Gardens, Tower Hill, London is to be held on Sunday 5th September 2010.
Many will attend services around the Country; I bring to your attention the Thanksgiving Service at Barry, more so for those more local and cannot travel etc to the regional Merchant Navy Ceremonies elsewhere.
Although not an MN Day Service, the Thanksgiving will include along with the armed forces, our Merchant Navy.
Alongside both the Water Front Festival and Service, there is a currently running Merchant Navy Exhibition in the foyer of the Barry Dock Offices (Office Hours) and may be worth a visit if you are local for the occasion. Although I have attempted to help with content again cannot attend the event.
A public reading / recital of:
Barry Seamen
Penned by Captain Joe Earl
Will be part of the Service.

Again I offer all of the above as for your information only, I do hope all will be of benefit and the many that can no longer attend such as Tower Hill maybe able to attend Barry Dock, once described as the Gateway to the World and a former Merchant Navy Town.
MERCHANT NAVY DAY
I see the ensigns flying, my heart fills with pride,
I see our colours carried, with seamen by my side,
I remember ships and mariners - ( and the debt we owe)
Now resting in the oceans, fathoms deep below.

THE MERCHANT NAVY WAS THERE EVERY DAY
