On Christmas Eve in 1895, 15 brave lifeboat volunteers from RNLI Dun Laoghaire Lifeboat Station rowed out in a raging storm to rescue the crew of a stricken vessel. As they approached, a huge wave washed over them and the lifeboat capsized, the men swept below the water. Tragically, despite every effort to help them, nothing could be done and all of the lifeboat crew lost their lives. RNLIPictured here are seven of the men who paid the ultimate sacrifice, we will always remember those that gave their lives to save others.
