DAILYECHO.CO.UK Historic ships helps Southampton cruise towards success at awards ceremony A HISTORIC cruise ship based in Southampton has sailed away with a top award - despite being confined to port by the pandemic. Steamship Shieldhall is feeling excited at Steamship Shieldhall. In the light of recent Government announcements, the Shieldhall Charity is pleased to confirm its plans to sail in 2021. Our first sailing will now take place on Saturday 26 June, with sailings continuing on most weekends and other selected dates until September 12th. Our priority as always is the continued safety of our guests and crew. Shieldhall is working towards the VisitBritain ‘Good to Go’ industry marque and sailings will take place under existing Government guidelines. Our volunteers have been buoyed by the news that organisers are planning to stage summer events such as the Bournemouth Air Festival, whilst Shieldhall’s crowning as ‘Small Visitor Attraction of the Year’ at the Beautiful South Tourism Awards has given the team a strong impetus as we look to celebrate our 66th year afloat, with celebratory sailings planned.
