On Saturday evening, HMS Ramsey’s captain, Lieutenant-Commander Bush together with his crew, entertained people from the town, including Jim Greenway, chairman of the Merchant Navy Association (Wales) Barry Branch, with kindness and a sincere appreciation of the history of the port.
This was reinforced on leaving. As we walked down the gangway Lieutenant-Commander Bush came to attention and saluted us – two quite ordinary Merchant Seamen!
