Lusitania Rests
This song was inspired by the story of the rescue operation mounted by local men living around Cork Harbour on the day the Lusitania was struck by a torpedo and sank. I was never aware fully aware of the effort of these men until seeing a tribute notice at Blind Strand, Courtmacsherry a few years ago. While obviously the loss of life is the main concern in the overall story, I was incredibly moved at the thought of what these men must have endured and experienced in the aftermath of the sinking.
