What used to be one of the busiest street in Barry (Dock view Road)
Dock View Road was constructed in the early 1890s in Castleland. The first sod was cut here – starting the building of the dock.
The road name was appropriately closely linked to the docks which it overlooked.

Number 13 was occupied by Phillips Brothers, an outfitters.
The National Provincial Bank of England opened in 1892 and was based at Number 14.
Number 15 was the Royal Restaurant at the junction with Sydenham Street which is now better known as Coronation Street.
Walter Benjamin Gardiner, who ran the business, also ran taxis in the First World War.
No less than 2000 trees were planted by June 1899 because the council believed that trees made the town healthier by absorbing carbonic acid gas.
