VIA:Save Falls of Clyde - International
Having had a conversation with Mr Bruce McLean of the FFOC board, I have been advised that it is DOTH that is once again forcing the issue of removing the National Historic Landmark status from the Falls of Clyde. This is in an effort to circumvent standards for treating a valuable heritage landmark, it is in our opinion also an attempt to bring in contractors to break her up, either in situ or on land.
This is a similar course of action that the Deputy head of DOT tried once before when previously appointed to work in that department. In the past she used claims of imminent structural failure threatening the harbor, as justification for scuttling her, claiming that all conditions had been met by the department for disposal, that was not the case.
The USCG were consulted as were the EPA and Historic Hawaii and their plans were halted!
I am asking all Falls of Clyde supporters to write to this lady by email and voice your concerns and ask for a new RFP to be issued for the ship's removal, as she committed to in March 2023.
She can be reached on dreanalee.k.kalili@hawaii.gov alternatively to write or call Governor Josh Green and ask what is going on!
