The Queen is the “Master of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets”

Today, 6th February 2022, marks 70 years since Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the throne in 1952 following the death of King George VI.

As Master of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets, Queen Elizabeth II has long been a patron of our industry.

On behalf of the Merchant Navy Association I would like to congratulate your Majesty on reaching your 70th Anniversary as our Queen.

We all appreciate the significant role you have undertaken in recognising role the Merchant Navy plays in the wellbeing of the United Kingdom, both in times of peace and of conflict.

KGV made Prince Albert the Master of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets in 1928. We are honoured Ma'am, that you honoured us when you became only the 2nd holder of that title.

The title itself is now reaching it's own 95th Anniversary.
