Maritime MuseumOn 25th May 1982 Cunard ’s Atlantic Conveyor, serving in the Falklands War in support of the Royal Navy , was lost along with 12 of those on board, including her Captain. She was the first British merchant ship lost to enemy fire since the Second World War. On 1st July, a remembrance service was held in Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, in memory of those lost in the sinking, as well as throughout the Falklands War. Captain North, 3rd from left, was killed along with 11 other crew members when the vessel was struck by an Exocet missile and lost on 25 May 1982.
