Cole, Ross Charles
Ross Cole was the first cousin of my father. All the information that I have read thus far that you have in this thread is correct according to what I have been told by family members. Both his parents, Cyril and Jenny, have now passed on. He had an older sister, Irene, also passed on. Irene had a daughter, Wendy, born in 1938, whom I think (THINK!) is still alive.
I was contacted yesterday by the Australian War Memorial (who gave me a link to this thread). They have received a case of documents and photographs from the attic of a house recently bought/sold. They are sorting them through this week. They are between Ross Cole and his father, Cyril. There are also photographs.
In March 2011 we had our first ever Cole Family Reunion. Ross was remembered at that. He still has 6 living first cousins. At the end of November, 10 of us are journeying to Jamieson in the state of Victoria to participate in their 150th anniversary. The Cole family moved from Gloucestershire UK to Jamieson Victoria in 1862. Ross's grandfather, Charles Wilkins Cole, was 6 when he migrated.
The Cole family is alive and well and keeping the memory of Ross's sacrifice close to their heart.
K.
