Caroline ClopetNow, some of you men out there may find this hilarious, but I have just managed, for the first time, to knot my tie by myself!! To be honest, I find this the hardest part of carrying a Standard at a Ceremony!! Yes I know, it needs ironing!! I will be representing the British Merchany Navy as their official Standard Bearer at the 11th November Remembrance Ceremony in the Cathédrale Saint Louis, at Les Invalides, in Paris this afternoon, with the Royal British Legion Paris Branch and British Embassy. Hopefully I will turn out well scrubbed as I did in the photo below. Remembering my Great Grandfather, Aristide, who was a Hero in WW1, and French Resistance WW2 - a very daring and brave man who defied the odds by escaping from the Germans in both wars. Also remembering his Nièce, Evelyne Clopet, who was parachuted into France on the last secret mission of WW2 - Sussex Network, who died before a firing squad.
