VIA; Victorian Barry Experience. On this day 4th March 1896 STRANGE ANIMAL RAMPAGES IN THOMPSON STREET,BARRY. As reported in the Barry Dock News today in 1896. Excitment in Thompson Street as a very strange animal runs wildly about the streets. The animal had escaped from an Indian Steamer lying in Barry Dock. After a spirited chase the ANIMAL WAS CAPTURED by Mr Gwinnitt the Thompson Street hairdresser. It was subsequently handed back to the crew of the steamer who had come in search of the animal. I've no idea what the animal was and neither did the local papers.
