We are trying to trace Abraham Joseph van der Sluis who was in the Merchant Navy, but we do not know if it was the British MN or Dutch MN. He was also known as 'Johnny'
His details are: •DOB: 28/5/21 •Place: Rotterdam
We have found the following on a docking ticket at the National Archives for him : •B.S.I.C. notations: TB 33280 16/2/51 Falmouth
We do not know what the initals stand for so any help with them or if anyone remembers him or datails about him.
It would be wonderful if anyone could provide us with information aout him.

Apparently:
B.S.I.C is definitely a British Seamans Identity Card:
TB 33280 is the serial number
MORE TO COME HOPEFULLY ASAP.

Thank you for your email which is very interesting.
Just last year we had an email from a Dutch lady who saw our message on the Merchant Navy website. She was looking for details of the other half of the van der Sluis family from her husband's side. This other half included Abraham Joseph van der Sluis. We corresponded for a while and eventually she found a notice of Abraham Joseph's funeral in 1996 and from that we have made contact with his son Perry. We are hoping to meet Perry at Rotterdam later in the year.
It would be good if we could have some contact with Roeters so that we can get another view of the person Abraham.
Regards
Clive
