Today, June 10, is Prince Philip’s Birthday on on this day in 1921 which means today he turns 91.
He was born Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark and was the only son of Prince Andrew of Greece, younger brother of King Constantine I of Greece. In 1922 Greece became extremely politically unstable and King Constantine I was forced into abdication and his brother, Prince Andrew (Prince Philip’s father) was sentenced to death.
King George V ordered ordered the family be evacuated on a Royal Navy ship when Prince Philip was only 18 months old.
In 1947 Philip Mountbatten and Princess Elizabeth announced their engagement and were married on November 20th.
The Prince has throughout the years carried out countless royal visits and events. Giving nearly his entire life to the service of The Queen and their people. For this, we thank him and wish him many more happy years to come!
