MNA: 2013: YEAR OF THE CONVOY: On the horizon for 2013 will be the 70th anniversary of the Atlantic Convoys. We have already had open discussions with others to establish a major promotion of those convoys in those times and how seafarers really won the Battle of Britain! London
• RN warship visits.
• 8 May ‐ BoA70 Themed Evensong ‐ St Paul’s Cathedral.
• 9 May ‐ BoA70 Charity Fundraising Dinner onboard RN warship.
• 10 May ‐ Memorial Service at Merchant Navy Memorial in Trinity Square Gardens.
Londonderry
• 10 May ‐ Royal Navy Association BoA70 reception.
• 11 May ‐ Unveiling statue of the ‘International Sailor’.
• 12 May ‐ Parade and wreath laying.
Liverpool
• RN and international warship visits.
• 24 May ‐ BoA70 Reception in RN warship.
• 25 May ‐ Charity Royal Marine Band Concert.
• 26 May ‐ Service of Commemoration – Liverpool Anglican Cathedral followed by parade and fly past by current and historic aircraft.
• 27 May ‐ Ships open to visitors.
Also:
6th-11th May 2013 WWII & Arctic Convoy Week at Loch Ewe
Following last year’s very successful World War II week at Loch Ewe, in May 2013 we will again be having tea dances, reunions, talks and special guest speakers. And as many veterans of the convoys will be coming up from all over the UK.
A diary of events will be posted nearer the time but events will be taking place all week (morning, afternoon & evening) from Monday to Saturday so please join us.
