ANNUAL SEAFARERERS’ SERVICE: BARRY 2012:
This year will be the 15th Annual Service and takes place after the re-dedication ceremony of the extensive refurbishment to the Merchant Navy Monument on the Civic Office forecourt, Barry, South Wales. Both events are taking place on September 29th 2012.
In holding a Seafarers’ Service the vital role played by the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force in Convoy duties, also all those who follow the calling of the sea, deep sea fishermen, the RNLI etc are acknowledged.
The presence of Branch Standards will be greatly appreciated at the service. The order of parade being – The Merchant Navy Association, The Royal Navy, The Royal Air Force, The Royal British Legion and all other Standards.
The provisional date for next year’s service is Saturday 21st September 2013.

Barry Merchant Navy Monument Rededication and Service:
The Merchant Navy Monument Barry will be re-dedicated on Saturday 29th September 2012. This ceremony will be held on the Civic Office forecourt at 10.00am, prior to the Merchant Navy Association (Wales) Barry Branch Annual Seafarers’ Service at the Memorial Hall.
The ceremony will be conducted by the Reverend Malcom Davies and will include the laying of wreaths. All organisations are welcome to lay a wreath.

The Reverend M Davies, honorary chaplain to the Merchant Navy Association (Wales) Barry Branch, will officiate, whilst the Barry Ladies Choir will provide the musical and vocal accompaniment. A spokesman said: “The service is open to all organisations and members of the general public. It is especially hoped that family members of serving and former members of the Merchant Navy, Royal Navy and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary will also attend”..
A branch wreath will be laid prior to the service at the Merchant Navy Monument re-dedication at 10.00.am with a blessing. “All other organisations are welcome to lay wreaths at this event.”
