For decades their efforts in World War II went unrecognised, but the prime minister has now announced that veterans of the Arctic Convoys will be awarded medals.
Welsh veterans are among those that have long called for official recognition in supplying the Soviet Union in its effort to fend off the Nazis.
But, as James Williams reports, they say many have "died waiting" for the honour.
