Battle of the Atlantic commemorations get underway

Presenting a magnificent spectacle from The Strand and mingled with the resident tall ships, the biggest warships that the docks could accommodate are ready to be besieged by crowds this weekend as the city does the event proud.
Dominating the scene in Canning Half-Tide Dock are warships representing the two former opposing sides of the Battle of the Atlantic.
