The Princess Royal attended a service of remembrance to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic in Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral this morning.
Wearing a full naval uniform she took the salute from parading veterans in the bright sunshine as the men, many in their eighties and nineties, were formally thanked for their part in the defence of Britain during World War Two.
