New Zealand veterans who served as aircrew in Bomber Command and sailors who served north of the Arctic Circle are receiving new awards for their service.Thirteen Bomber Command Clasps and an Arctic Star are being presented to New Zealand veterans to recognise their service during World War II. The awards are being presented at the Auckland War Memorial Museum Hall of Memories on Sunday at an event organised by the Bomber Command Association. About 6000 NZ Armed Forces personnel served as aircrew in Bomber Command and up to 1000 former Royal New Zealand Navy or former New Zealand Merchant Navy personnel served north of the Arctic Circle during World War II.
