Barry at War are currently working with Barry Town Council, the RBL and other key stakeholders to ensure a appropriate launch event for this momentous centenary. The date is provisonally set for Aug 30 / Aug 31 2014. This year`s Wartime Weekend event will take place on Barry Island on Aug 31/ Sep 1stBarry Dock in the Year of the Convoy, will remember her Merchant Seamen and all that sailed from Barry Dock. EG: Quote Kinsale Mayor, Tomas O Brien : "Many a young Kinsale man left to go to Barry, which to them was the gateway to the world. For some it was the first time they had left their native town, and their families survived on the money they sent home. "Some settled in Barry and have families there today. Many others died in the wars while serving in both the Royal and Merchant Navies." This is Barry. Thursday 1 September 2005 LINK: barryatwar.info/2013/04/planning-begins-for-wartime-weekend-2014/
