St Mary the Virgin church, a parish church of 12th century Cardiff.
The present building was opened in 1843 as a replacement for the original church (sited on the banks of the Taff in what is now Great Western Lane). The church was designed by a Liverpool architect, John Foster, in a striking Romanesque style, its exterior modelled on the south transept of Norwich Cathedral. The church features in the film Tiger Bay (1959), featuring John and Hayley Mills.
