A tribute to fishermen:
The humble trawler, a ship of sort, Starts its engine and leaves the port. On board the boat, the crewman’s wish,... A safe return and a load of fish. Into deeper waters the boat must venture, To seek the best fish which to capture. The rising swell, the pitch and the roll, Deep below cod, haddock, plaice and sole. It’s now time to fish, so the nets are cast, Into rough seas, so deep and so vast. Through the biting winds and the bitter cold, A haul of fish tumbles into the hold. Time and again, the nets trawl waters deep, The fishermen work, there’s little time for sleep. The slippery deck, a dangerous place to be, Most important of course, is the crew’s safety. The hold is now full; it’s time to head home, The boat breaks the waves, there’s lots of foam. Thank you to the men, for all their hard work, For giving me the fish, I have on my fork.
